Ben Affleck Revealed That His Kids Enjoy His Film “Armageddon”
Actor and director Ben Affleck recently spoke about his experience of showing his films to his three children, now that they are older. Affleck has two daughters, Violet and Seraphina, and one son, Samuel, with his ex-wife, actor Jennifer Garner.
The actor revealed that his children enjoyed his early film Armageddon (1998) because they could make fun of him in it.
During a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Ben Affleck opened up about his children’s movie preferences. He revealed that his kids’ first choice of his movies to watch was Armageddon, which they thoroughly enjoyed as it gave them an opportunity to make fun of him.
According to Affleck, his children found it amusing that he portrayed characters like an astronaut or an oil driller, and found the overall storyline to be quite ridiculous. Nonetheless, they still loved it and found it to be a great source of entertainment.
Affleck’s children enjoyed the fun of Armageddon and found the movie engaging. However, the first film that Affleck was really interested in his children’s opinion of was Good Will Hunting (1997), a film he co-wrote with his best friend Matt Damon. The two friends also starred in the film, which went on to win the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay.
One of the most meaningful experiences for Ben Affleck was watching Good Will Hunting with his children. He shared with The Hollywood Reporter that it was fascinating to observe their reaction to the film and how different their childhood was from his own.
He found it incredibly gratifying that they were fully engaged and interested in the film and considered it one of the most fulfilling artistic experiences of his life.

In his latest project, Air, Ben Affleck takes us on a journey back in time, depicting Nike’s iconic signing of Michael Jordan and the creation of the Air Jordans sneakers. The film, which premiered at the SXSW Film Festival on March 18, 2023, stars Affleck as well as Matt Damon, Jason Bateman, Marlon Wayans, Chris Messina, and Viola Davis. This star-studded cast promises to bring a compelling narrative to the big screen.
Affleck, who plays Nike co-founder Phil Knight in the film, spoke about his experience of working with Damon again, saying, “We always have a lot of fun working together. We have a shorthand and a trust that makes working together easy and fun.”
Despite his success as an actor and director, Affleck remains focused on being a present and engaged father to his children. He recently spoke about his decision to take a break from acting to spend more time with his family, saying, “I want to be a good father and a good friend and a good son and a good brother, and I want to do work that I’m proud of.”
As Affleck continues to balance his personal and professional life, he looks forward to sharing his films with his children and seeing how they respond to his work as an actor and director.
