Taraneh Alidoosti is an Iranian actress who is known for her role in the 2016 Thriller drama film “The Salesman“. She was arrested by the Iranian authorities for supporting the “Anti-Hijab” protests in Iran and expressing solidarity with the protesters.
The ISNA news agency reported on Wednesday that, The “Bodyguard” fame actress has been released on Bail. Earlier, The mother of actress “Nadere Hakimelahi”, also shared a post on Instagram saying that she would be released.
After her release on bail, Taraneh Alidoosti posted a picture in which she can be seen holding a lot of flowers and surrounded by friends.
The recent protests in Iran represent a momentous occasion in the country’s history, as they represent one of the largest challenges to the government since the Islamic Republic was established in 1979. In response to the demonstrations, security forces have deployed various methods to disperse protesters, including the use of live ammunition, birdshot, and tear gas.
These actions have been met with criticism from human rights groups, who have condemned the heavy-handed crackdown. Despite the challenges, the protesters remain determined to have their voices heard and to effect change within their country.
Alidoosti was arrested because she posted an Instagram picture without wearing Hijab, and also wrote “Every international organization who is watching this bloodshed and not taking action is a disgrace to humanity,”. This led her to Jail.
Alidoosti was one of the celebrities who expressed support for the protesters & she had posted around 3 posts in the support of the protesters on her Instagram account before it was disabled. Her Instagram account had millions of followers. One of the posts posted by the “The Salesman” actress expressed solidarity with the first man executed in the protests, Mohsen Shekari.
She was released on Wednesday 4th January 2023. Not much information has been disclosed yet. We’ll update it here once we have more information.
