Taraneh Alidoosti is one of the eminent Iranian Actress. According to reports, she was arrested on Saturday 17th December by the Iranian authorities for supporting Anti-Hijab protests after she expressed solidarity with anti-government demonstrators in an Instagram post on her handle.

The actress is well-known for her oscar-winning film “The Salesman” 2016, she made a social media post in the support of a man who was enacted by the Iranian authorities. She said in her Instagram post, “His name was Mohsen Shekari. Every international organization who is watching this bloodshed and not acting is a disgrace to humanity”.

This Instagram post made her the target of the Iranian Government, which led to her being apprehended.

According to sources, it is said that Alidoosti was arrested because the actress did not provide any proof of her claim which led to the suspension of her Instagram account and her arrest.

According to Tasnim ( The Iranian News Agency ), Taraneh was arrested because she was spreading false information and supporting counter-revolutionary circles.

According to the news report of AFP ( A French News Agency ), Taranah posted a picture of her without a headscarf on Thursday as the protest against the severe dress code of the country continued. In the photograph, eminent actress Taraneh Alidoosti is seen holding a slogan in the Kurdish language, that the AFP translated as “Jin. Jiyan. Azadi.” (Woman. Life. Freedom.), which is reportedly a slogan of the protests.

The protests in Iraq arised a few weeks ago after the death of a 22-year-old woman which is alleged due to brutal morality police.

According to the News Agency AP, around 328 people have been killed and more than 14,825 have been arrested due to these protests. Though Iranian state media have claimed that security forces have not killed anyone.

According to CNN, Taraneh Alidoosti had doomed the hanging of Mohsen Shekari, who was killed in December in the first known execution linked to the protests.

Alidoosti is best known for her role in the Oscar-winning movie “The Salesman” released in 2016. She has also appeared in movies like Subtraction, Orca, Leila, Jamshid And Korshid, Absolute Rest, Shallow Yellow Sky, Modest Reception, etc

She was very popular on social media and had over 8 million followers on Instagram. Though after the controversial post, her Instagram account was taken down.
